Jan 26, 2011 · I just use a small sliding hammer to remove the emulsion tubes. If you will notice they have a flat side which align them properly. I usually reinstall them with the sliding hammer so I can rotate them if need be. Remove the main jet and the emulsion tube above it if possible. Not all emulsion tubes are removable. On the outside of the carburetor, remove the pilot jet or pilot jet cover screw. Now you can clean the carb body and each of the components you removed. Use carburetor cleaner to spray each piece clean.

Emulsion tubes control the metered fuel and air introduced into the Carburetor. When air enters the emulsion tube through the air jet and fuel enters through the the main fuel jet this condition emulsifies the fuel delivered into the carburetor. The emulsion tube has a series of small holes from top to bottom which regulate the fuel mixture. To remove it for inspection, it is pressed down with someone plastic from above AFTER YOU HAVE REMOVED THE MAIN JET AND EMULSION TUBE. With it out, you can have a good look. This one is not ovalled and is nice and uniform, so it’s probably still good for a bit of time.
